TRANSPORT

Public transport is the most practical way of getting around the city. Seven metro lines and a fleet of 800 buses, running on 80 routes, reach any part of the city. Besides the single ticket, which can be purchased at the metro stations and on the buses, there are also 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-day passes which make it more convenient for visitors to get around the city as they allow unrestricted travel on the entire network. Eleven thousand taxis, with their yellow and black livery, provide service, and are available at all times either by pre-booking or by hailing them in the street.

 

HOW TO GET TO BARCELONA FROM THE AIRPORT

 

The airport is located 12 kilometres outside the city, to the south. The airport has three terminals.

TRAIN (RENFE). Line C2.

The train airport station is situated opposite T2, and is connected to this terminal via an airbridge. There is also a Bustransit service between the Renfe station and T1.
Time: From the airport, daily from 06:08 to 23:38. 19 minutes to Barcelona Sants station
Frequency: every 30 min.

CURRENCY AND BANKING FACILITIES

The Euro (€) is the currency of the European Union. You can change money at the city's banks as well as at the exchange booths located in the city center and at tourist sights. Cash machines, which accept most bankcards, are located at the airport and throughout the city of Barcelona. Banks open from Monday to Friday, 08.30 h. to 14.00h.

 

SHOPPING HOURS

Shops in Barcelona open their doors between 9.00 and 10.00 in the morning, and generally close for lunch at 1.30 or 2.00. They open again in the afternoon between 4.00 and 5.00 and remain open until 8.00 or 8.30 in the evening. Nevertheless, it should be noted that many shopping centres and larger establishments do not close at midday. Many shops and all department stores and shopping centres open Saturday afternoons, while all shops close Sundays, except for a few dates when they are permitted to open.
