Seminar Xavier Vendrell
Nov 22, 2018
Xavier Vendrell, granted with a Beatriu de Pinos postdoctoral fellowship, has recently joined the NEMEN group at INTE. On Friday 16th of November 2018, he opened the internal fall seminars explaining his research career with a talk entitled “Electroceramics for Energy”.
During his talk, Xavier gave an overview of the different research areas he has been involved in the past few years including: the synthesis and characterization of lead-free ferro-piezoelectric ceramics, the mechanosynthesis of oxysulfides as improved cathode materials for Li-ion batteries and the use of Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) as a tool to study degradation mechanisms in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells.
Xavier Vendrell will combine his knowledge in ball milling mechanosynthesis and EIS to work in the development of high performance catalysts for H2 production via methane activation, exploiting the advantages of EIS as a tool for their characterization.
Xavier Vendrell
Xavier Vendrell obtained his PhD in Materials Science at the Universitat de Barcelona (2013). During his PhD, he obtained a teaching assistant position in the Inorganic Chemistry Department at the same university. After his PhD, Xavier gained a postdoctoral position at the Chimie-Paristech, Institut de Recherche de Chimie Paris (IRCP) and the Collège de France (2015). In 2016, he obtained a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellowship to join Prof. Anthony R. West group at the University of Sheffield. Recently, he has joined the NEMEN group at INTE as a post-doc with a Beatriu de Pinos fellowship.
